The new classroom building is a 2-story addition to the existing Beaumont High School. It includes three Career Technical Education (CTE) Construction Arts classrooms, two CTE Culinary Arts classrooms and 16 standard classrooms to accommodate growth. A multi-story design was determined to be the best solution, as floor area can be maximized while minimizing the impact on athletic courts and student gathering areas.
Two PV systems are planned at the new classroom building, the two systems will generate approximately 30% of the estimated yearly energy use of the new building. One of the photovoltaic (PV) installations is a strong visual design feature, intended to provide shade for the stair and generate interest and raise awareness among staff and students about renewable energy and “green” design.
